Test in Nothern Ireland- Ballywalter Game Fair
We had been invited to participate in an unofficial working test for teams in Northern Ireland the last weekend of April. So we went all the way to Ireland. Thorleif and Marianne drove with the four dogs and Keld and Steen flew into Dublin, where they were met by our Irish Rretriever friend Laurence Hennessy. He had been so kind to arrange training for us on Saturday, when Will Higgenson and Damien Newman made some exercises for us and our dogs to be ready for the test on Sunday. Super training and time for dog talk. We really enjoyed that.
Sunday morning the team test was held with teams from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Denmark. The test was held at the Ballywalter Game Fair. Our dogs performed well, and we came in second. The test was won by the team from Norther Ireland.
Sunday afternoon an individual working test was held. We participated. This test was won by an Irish dog, and Trompeterbakken's Grace and Thorleif came in third.
We had a really nice trip and were welcomed warmly and well looked after - even the Danish flag was hoisted at the manor house. A trip we will remember for a very long time.

The first day included two drives and a long walk-up.
11 dogs made it to the second day, including Trompeterbakken's Dina & Trompeterbakken's Elvira.
On day 2 we started with a drive on ducks. Then we had a drive on phesants. Only four dogs were successful. Unfortunately both Dina & Elvira failed in this drive.
The four dogs were placed as follows:
4th: Lærkereden's Balder & Kristian Olesen
3rd: Hillus Powell & Thomas Plamboeck
2nd with ck: Ravensbank Swift & Gert Müller
1st with ck and certificate: Ffynongain Gunner at Tudorcourt & Mogens Petersen
Congratulations.
In Marianne's view this was the best championship she had participated in. The guns did a brilliant job. The game keeper provided really nice birds. All dogs had the possibility of demonstrating their abilities. The judges did a very good job. Just a shame that no Trompeterbakken dog completed the trial successfully.
Trompeterbakken's Grace - 2nd winner
At the trial held at Valdemar Slot on 3 December the dogs were placed as follows:
1st winner with ck and certificate Andjøh's Rafal Nadal & Jon Andersen

No gold at ICC
We are now back from our participation in the ICC. Unfortunately, the Danish dogs were not very successful. Two dogs failed at their first bird, one dog failed at the fourth bird, and the last dog failed at the last bird on day two.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay in Germany and met some really nice people.
ICC preparations
Saturday 13 November we had been invited to pick up so that we could make the final preparations for our participation in the ICC.
ICC stands for Individual Challenge Cup. It will be held in Germany on 19 and 20 November.
The Danish team include the following: Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Lochiness Green Chive & Keld Jørgensen, Trompterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær, Sortebjerg's Coal Brook & Danny Fraser.
For further information about this competition please click ICC 2010.
Trompeterbakken's Guy wins trial
We have just been called by a happy dog owner. Anders Moelgaard informed us that he and his dog Trompeterbakken's Guy won the trial held at Saltofte today. They were also awarded ck and the certificate. Congratulations.
Now they have to win "only" one more trial to become a Danish Working Champion.
Silver to DK at Nordic Championship 2010
We are now back from an eventful trip to Finland, who hosted the Nordic Championship.
We almost missed the boat to Sweden because our car broke down and we had to rent a car.
The day we left Elvira came into season. That implied that we brought along Trompeterbakken's Katrine, who had been appointed the reserve to the team. Katrine is 3 years old and has no previous experience of participating in international trials and tests. Marianne assumed that Katrine would be the weakest card on the team, and her assumptions came through. Luckily, the team result is calculated on the basis of the results of four of the dogs on the team, which includes 5 dogs.
The championship was held as a mock trial, in this case a walk up on dummies. Each competitor retrieved 8 dummies either as marks or blinds. Friday it started to snow. So on Saturday, when the championship was held, the grounds were covered in snow. This of course made the scent very difficult.
A run off was held at the end of the day. Each team had to nominate two dogs for this. Two dummies were thrown. One in water one on land. Norway started. Picked the land mark easily. Unfortunately, the water mark was never retrieved. DK was the second team. The land mark was picked easily by Lars Mejlby and his dog Twister. The water mark caused Jan Lorenzen and Dina some difficulties. Fortunately, Dina retrieved the mark. The Swedish team only retrieved the land mark, and the Finnish team retrieved both marks.
At the dinner party Saturday evening the results were announced. 4th was Sweden, 3rd was Norway, 2nd was Denmark and the championship was won by Finland. Congratulations once again.
Jan & Dina were the gun's choice. The argument was that Dina had to break ice to retrieve the water mark, so she got the name the ice breaker.
We would also like to thank the Finnish organisation for a wonderful and superb championship. You all did a brilliant job.
For further information about the results, please visit the following: NC 2010
On Sunday an international trial was held on pheasants and partridges. The 12 most successful dogs from the championship had qualified. DK qualified with 3 competitors, viz. Jan & Dina, Helle & Phippi, Lars & Twister.
The trial was won by Usvalammen Roihu & Esa Valkonen, who got an excellent, no CACIT. Congratulations.

Nordic championship 2010 preparations
The team representing Denmark at the Nordic Championship 2010 were gathered at the Hoejstrup Estate on 16 October. We had been invited as retrieveres on the first hunting day.
We had a super good day. Good shooting and many good retrieves.
As a team it was a pleasure to have received this invitation.
Training on a hunting day and in the form of walk up are the best conditions we can imagine to ensure that we are well-prepared for the championship.
We would therefore like to thank the hunters and the game keeper for this opportunity.
We really appreciate it that game keepers and hunters support Danish participation in championships.
We'll do our best at becoming Nordic champions 2010.

Trompeterbakken's Dagmar has come into season and will be mated to Leadburn Donald. We expect puppies around Christmas.

Trompeterbakken's MacCloud 1st prize and prize of honour
We have received news from our Swedish puppy owner. Trompeterbakken's MacCloud achieved a 1st prize in the beginner's class at an official test in Sweden. Moreover, he was awarded the prize of honour. This prize is awarded to the dog who has earned a 1st prize and completed the test without any faults. A judge will only award the prize of honour if the standard is sufficiently high. Congratulations.
We look forward to following Mac in the years to come. Hopefully, he will also run in tests and trials in Denmark.

On the same day Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen participated in the first official winner's trial this year. They won this trial.
Congratulations.
Nordic Championship - three Trompeterbakken dogs on the Danish team

Trompeterbakken's Priska passed obedience test
At the age of eight months Priska passed the obedience test - and was also the best dog of the day. Stefan Poulsen was very proud of his dog's performance. We congratulate and look forward to following them in the coming cold-game test season.
Qualifying test - Trompeterbakken's Katrine
On 28 August Trompeterbakken's Katrine passed the Danish Retriever Club's qualifying test. To pass this test, the dog must comply with the show breeding standards, i.e. look like a labrador according to an official show judge, and walk properly to heel, retrieve cold game from water and on land as well as retrieve three pieces of cold game in a sweep up.
In Denmark it is also a requirement for a dog to have passed this test in order to become a cold game or field trial champion. In other words, Katrine "only" has to win three trials to become a field trial champion. We hope she will be successful in the year(s) to come.
Success for Trompeterbakken dogs at first Danish team working test
On 22 August the Danish Retriever Club held its first official Danish team working test at Tirsbæk Estate.
10 teams participated in this test including three Trompeterbakken dogs, viz. Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank and Trompeterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær.
Top dog was Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen.
The team test was won by Team Dream Team with Trompeterbakken's Gina, Trompeterbakken's Elvira and Seadiver's Black Guiness.

3 Trompeterbakken dogs in IWT 2010
At this year's IWT, which was held in Norway, three Trompeterbakken dogs had qualified to represent Denmark, viz. Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup and Trompeterbakkens' Elvira & Marianne Ankjær.

Trompeterbakken's Dina wins Danish cold game Retriever Championship 2010
At the age of 8, Dina won the annual retriever championship. Congratulations.
On 19 and 20 June the annual retriever championship was held in Southern Denmark. 100 dogs participated in this two-day test.
Day 1 was held on new grounds. All dogs were tested in five tests. At each test it is possible to achieve between 0 and 20 points. Only nine dogs were successful in all five tests, i.e. achieved more than six points in each test. Of these two Trompeterbakken dogs: Dina & Jan Lorenzen and Gina & Jacob Frank.
That only nine dogs were successful tells more about the difficulty of the tests. Especially the mark test was a killer test. Also the walk up was not easy as only 50% of the dogs achieved more than five points at this test.
Day 2 was held on the steward's grounds.
At test 1 the nine dogs were presented with a mark and two blinds. 4 dogs retrieved all birds.
At test 2 the dogs were presented with 2 x 2 marks. All four dogs retrieved these birds. Super.
As the judges do not announce the points on day 2, the winner could be any of two dogs as they started day 2 with 84 and 83 points respectively.
At the end of day 2 the judges praised the four dogs very much. All dogs were given CK.
The result was as follows:
4th winner with CK: Toplab Cotter Cheif & Benny Georg Hansen
3rd winner with CK: Moorman's Double Diamond Ale & Morgan Thorell
2nd winner with CK: DKBRCH FIBRCH Jiggers Tarka Lovely Alma & Hans Jrgen Bilstrup
Winner: DKBRCH DKJCH Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen

4 Trompeterbakken dogs qualified to represent DK at IWT in Norway
The Danish Retriever Club held two qualifying tests to represent DK at IWT in Norway in June.
At the first test 12 dogs qualified. At the second test 5 dogs qualified. Only dogs that completed the test, i.e. retrieved all dumies, qualified.
According to our calculations the following four Trompeterbakken dogs are qualified to represent DK:
Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup, Trompeterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær, Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank.
We await further information as to the composition of the four teams that will represent DK.

On 30 April the Danish Retriever Club held the second qualifying test for IWT in Norway and Skinner's Cup in England.
14 dogs participated.
The test included five exercises - all of a high standard as to length and grounds.
Five dogs completed the test and qualified, including 5th winner Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank and second winner Trompeterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær. Thirsgaard's McCallan & Steen Ludvigsen won the test.
We are now certain that the following Trompeterbakken dogs will represent Denmark at Skinner's Cup in England in the last weekend of May, viz. Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup and Trompeterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær. Depending on the interest in participating in Skinner's Cup Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank may also be on the Danish team. Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup won the first qualifying test for IWT 2010 and Skinner's Cup 2010
As a consequence of the great interest in representing Denmark at IWT 2010 in Norway and Skinner's Cup 2010 in England the Danish Retriever Club has decided to hold two qualifying tests.
The fist qualifying test was held on Sunday 11 April.
19 dogs participated in the first test, including four Trompeterbakken dogs, viz. Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen, Trompeterbakken's Elvira & Marianne Ankjær, Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank, Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup.
The test included five exercises with focus on blinds and marks.
To be placed all five exercises had to be completed, i.e. all dummies had to be retrieved.
At the end of the day 12 dogs had completed the test, including 7th winner Trompeterbakken's Gina & Jacob Frank, 2nd winner Trompeterbakken's Dina & Jan Lorenzen and 1st winner Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif Rigenstrup.
We assume that Dina & Jan and Grace & Thorleif are now qualified to represent Denmark at IWT in Norway and Skinner's Cup in England.
3rd winner - Trompeterbakken's Grace and Thorleif Rigenstrup
On Saturday 10 April Trompeterbakken's Grace & Thorleif participated in the official B test held by the Danish Labrador Club.
The winner's test included two tracks with two double marks and a search.
Before the final Gracce & Thorleif had the highest score of 56 points out of 60.
The judges decided to have six dogs in the final.
The final was a blind over water with a thrown distraction and placed distractions so that the only option was to collect the blind by crossing water. Four out of six dogs completed the final satisfactorily.
Unfortunately Grace & Thorleif did not maintain the lead even though they hoped to to so.
They came in third.
Congratulations to the winner Miko & Tommy Langelund and the other winners.

Congratulations to Jørn and Indy and the other winners.

B test (cold game test) on 28 March - certificate of merit to Trompeterbakken's Grace
We participated in the first cold game test in Jutland.
Thorleif ran Trompeterbakken's Grace in the winner's class. It was a very good test. Track 1 included two blinds and a tripple mark. Track 2 included a limited search area over water and a search in a wooden area. Before the finale Thorleif and Grace were no two with 67 points out of 80.
The judges decided to hold a final for dogs with more than 65 points. Marianne & Trompeterbakken's Elvira had 64 points.
At the final Grace & Thorleif were not very successful. They were awared a certificate of merit. The test was won by Sweetwater's Cerutti & Jimmy Andersen. We congratulate.
Puppy session March 2010
Sunday 21 March we held a puppy session for the P litter.
Two of the puppies now live outside Denmark so they did not participate.
We had a nice afternoon. We enjoyed watching the puppies and their new owners. There was an excellent contact between the dogs and their owners, and everybody was happy.
Especially we noted that the most timid dog of the litter had become a very confident dog. It is great to observe what positive socialisation can do to a puppy.

Trompeterbakken's Olga passed the obedience test - the best dog of the day
Sunday 7 March Trompeterbakken's Olga by/Jan V. Petersen passed the Danish Retriever Club's obedience test.
In Denmark you have to pass this test to participate in cold game tests.
The test documents that the dog can walk properly on the lead, can walk properly without the lead, can remain in a position of 50 meters away from the handler until called home, can retrieve a dummy properly on command and is comfortable when a shot is fired.
Today we got a call from Jan. He proudly informed us that Olga and he passed the obedience test. Thus, they are qualified to run in Danish cold game tests (beginner's class) when Olga is 12 months old. Moreover, he proudly informed us that they achieved the maximum points available and were given the prize the best dog of the day.
Olga is the first labrador that Jan has ever worked with.
We congratulate and look forward to following them in the Danish test/trial system.
